One of my assignments in S352: Production for Graphic Designers class at Indiana University was to create a series of 3 social awareness posters. I wanted to choose an issue that I felt strongly about but one that was not as commonly addressed: microchipping your pet. A small microchip (the size of a grain of rice) can be implanted under the skin of your pet which contains vital information such as the contact information of the owner. This prevents lots pets from ending up at animal shelters and – worse yet – euthanized. I wanted the image of the animals on the posters to tug at the heartstrings while capturing the audience’s attention so they’ll read the statistics. It really is something small, but so important, that you can do to protect your pet.
